JO BOLE SO NIHAAL SATSRIYAKAL
Keeping with the secular
ethos of the school students of DPS-JC celebrated Gurpurab, one of the several
auspicious religious festivals in Sikhism, to mark the Parkash Utsav of Guru
Nanak Dev. The students of primary and middle school prepared a medley of
activities on this occasion to commemorate and remember the birth and
philosophy of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism. The
morning assembly commenced with the recitation of the first pauri of ‘Jap ji
Sahib’ followed by ‘Aarti’ along with the ‘Shabad’. Primary students
chanted the Mool Mantra ‘Ek Om Kar’ from Guru Granth Sahib with a student
explaining the meaning of the mantra. They presented with élan, the religious
ceremony observed in the Gurudwara on this day and also sang the Shabad Gurubani.
Dressed as various characters the gifted students upheld the Guru’s simple
principles of life. The students sang devotional songs carrying Sikh Flags .
They also narrated stories related to Guru Nanakji’s life.
