DUSSEHRA CELEBRATION

Dussehra  Celebration  is right round the corner. Dussehra marks one of the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar. It is also referred to Vijayadashami, as it is a festival that signifies the triumph of good over evil. Dussehra 2017 is a 10-day long festival, and the 10th day or Dashami is when the festival comes to an end. Dussehra is celebrated with much fervour across the country wherein different states follow their own traditional customs and rituals.
According to popular belief, Lord Rama fought against Ravana for 10 days and defeated him to rescue his wife, Sita, whom Ravana had abducted. This victory of Lord Rama also signifies the victory of good over evil. During this festival, ramleela or plays are organised in various corners of the country to enact the tale of The Ramayana. The nine days before Dussehra are collectively known as Navratri, during which people pray and fast.
We, the students and staff of DPS-JC celebrated this wonderful festival with immense devotion and fervour keeping its significance. In the morning assembly, students spoke about the significance of the festival and how it is celebrated across the country. It was so prodigious to have the presence of Mrs. Jyoti Dewangan and Mrs. Sneha Dewangan at this auspicious occasion as Chief guests. Mrs. Jyoti Dewangan and Mrs. Sneha Dewangan lit the auspicious holy lamp and the proceedings began. Small children enacted the story of Goddess Durga and her victory over Mahisasura and simultaneously they also presented the story of Ramayana so beautifully and magnificently by the assistance of Mr. Rajendra Upadhayay one of the members of our DPS-JC faculty. The students also made beautiful charts. Dandiya, a traditional dance and a presentation of Ramleela were presented by the pre- primary students in a graceful manner. Children were in colourful attire to represent as Lord Rama, Laxman, Sita, Hanuman, and Ravana. At last the effigy or figurine of the tyrant Ravana, emblematic of evil, was burnt in to ashes as a mark of victory of the GOOD that is Rama… bringing peace and harmony back to earth.

On this auspicious day of Dussehra
DPS-JC wishes each and every one of you
happiness and the fulfillment of all your dreams.
