To enhance the healthy competitive spirit among the students
of DPS-JC on 17th June 2017, Saturday following Co-Curricular
Activities were organized in school.
Carrom
Competition
Sub Junior boys and girls (II to III)
“A champion needs a motivation above or beyond winning…….
It’s not about winning or losing”
Carrom is a ‘strike and pocket’ table game of eastern
origin. Carrom is one of the most popular indoor games in India. DPS_JC also
organized Carrom competition among students of four houses. It was perceived
that students had thorough knowledge of angles, deftness of touch, keen sight
and superlative contact of nerves besides mental and physical fitness. It was a
neck to neck competition among students.

Sub Junior (II to III) boys and girls
“When you see a good move, look for a better one”
A strong memory, concentration, imagination and a strong
will is required to become a chess player. We could witness these unimaginable
talents among the students of DPS-JC. It was awesome and wonderful tactical
game which was purely dependent on time and control. Chess was conducted among
all four houses.

Story Writing: Junior boys and girls (IV to V)
Stories have been shared for as long as people…have been
able to communicate.…There are countless ways that stories can be told.…The
oldest forms are oral…with people telling a narrative as others listen.…
The story writing was held for junior students and subjects
of the story were “What is the funniest thing you have ever seen” and “Imagine
that if you are given power to change the world, what would like to change the
world?” It was compulsory for all the students of DPS-JC and conducted among
four houses.

Essay
writing competition
Essay writing: Middle
boys and girls (VI to VIII)
DPS-JC well organized an English
essay writing competition on the same day. This year especially, we threw the
spot light on clear and present challenges which our society always
undergoes. It was held among middle students
who belonged to four different houses. Grades 6 to 8 were given the topics on ‘Demonetisation”
and “Greenhouse effect” was an optional subject. The topics were given on the
spot as it has several benefits, particularly they can develop writing skills,
logical thinking and encourage a healthy sense of competition and a commitment
to excellence among the young students.
