Dushehra Celebration

Dushehra - There are two important stories behind celebration of Dushehra. One associated with Lord Rama, and the other with Goddess Durga. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil.
Many festivals are related to the two great epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata. Dushehra is one such.
Dushehra is also Vijayadashami...victory of Goddess Durga over demon Mahisasura.
The festival is unique in its perception and significance. Lord Rama killed Ravana on the tenth day. It is triumph of virtue over sin or immorality. Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahisasura, thus bringing an end to his tyranny.
Throughout Navaratri, Ramleela is organised and people enjoy the enactment of the play based on Ramayana.
DPS-JC too celebrated this wonderful festival with immense devotion and fervour maintaining its significance.
Principal Sir lit the holy lamp and the proceedings began.
The story of Goddess Durga and her victory over Mahisasura was beautifully presented in form of stage enactment by small children. Simultaneously the story of Ramayana was briefly but beautifully narrated by Sri.Rajendra Upadhayay, a member of the faculty.
There were dances and merry making, but the presentation of Ramleela by the children of Pre-Primary wing stole the show. Children dressed in befitting costumes and playing the different characters of Ramayana was a treat to the naked eyes ; add to that the fanatic joy of Garbha.
Finally the effigy of the tyrant Ravana, symbolic of Evil, was burnt to ashes as a mark of victory of the Good, i.e, Rama...bringing peace and harmony back on earth.
As it is rightly said, every good deed is blessed by the Almighty, the Rain God came pouring down filling the air with charm and chill.
Wow, festive mood and festival galore...
Let us devote ourselves to the invocation of Lord Rama and Goddess Durga. Let us welcome the Good and discard all Evil....
