Teachers’ Day 2016

“Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.”
A much awaited day in most educational institutions , both for the students and the teachers - 5th September , the birth anniversary of Dr.Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the Second President of India, widely celebrated as Teachers’ Day. That the great man chose to celebrate his birthday as Teachers’  Day, respecting and honouring the noble profession, speaks volumes about this great philosopher, statesman and intellectual.
He believed that a Teacher is one who is like a candle that burns itself to illumine darkness. Hence, this Day has great significance.
DPS-JC, like every other year, this year too celebrated Teachers’ Day with immense love, respect and dedication. The preparations had started from a few days back, and the presentation on the final day deserves accolades.
The atmosphere, right from the morning, had a touch of charm and joy. The proceedings started with the welcoming of AVP, Mr.Kamal Kishore Dewangan, Chief Guest, followed by a special assembly conducted by the teachers. Be it Piyush Sir’s thundering command, Kalpana Mam’s beautiful thought or Raj Rajeshwari’s informative news headlines, everything had class written all over it; and who would forget the heart-touching poem rendition in Hindi (Meri Abhilasha) by Shri Rajendra Upadhayay, Sanskrit Teacher !
Then it was the turn of the students to celebrate the day in their own way. And they did their best. In a unique way teachers one by one were invited to the dais and presented a memento along with a beautiful rose. It was really nice to see students adding so much of innovations in their presentations.
Principal Sir in his address greeted all the teachers and reflected on the significant role teachers play in moulding young minds.
Chief Guest, AVP Sir, left his short and impressive speech with a question for the students to ponder upon. He quoted,”Just imagine, its only one student and one day that gave the opportunity to escort his/her favourite teacher to the dais ; and the teachers  think, care and guide so many students. How difficult the task is !”
The tug-of-war was a real treat to watch, where teachers were divided into two groups to fight it out. They fought and as usual, one group, the stronger one on the day, got the better of the other.
Teachers’ individual performances were simply astonishing. It was talent galore at DPS-JC.
The day ended on a happy note. After a wonderful hilarious presentation by the students, teachers went on a merry journey and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch at the most befitting place.
The day that started merry ended merry, with teachers biding goodbye to each other with that ever enchanting smile on their faces.
