Teacher Training Programme on English Language Proficiency



The language Proficiency in the medium of instruction is fundamental to the teaching learning process, and DPS,JC having realized it, has been making focused efforts towards the same. The desire to express self in children is as natural as it is for birds to chirp and flowers to bloom.
The school, as the part of its continuous professional development programme (CPDP) conducted a workshop on phonetics on 29.04.2017. Mr. Kelvin, an expert in the field awakened the sensitiveness of teachers to phonetics aspect of English and pointed out the common errors among the students. Lack of language Proficiency, opinioned Mr. George Joseph, the newly joined school principal, has been a great hurdle to the majority of students of English medium schools in India.
Mr. Kelvin threw light on the correct use of phonetic and he emphasized that good pronunciation is the soul of the secret for speaking and reading English language and vernacular effects on English, Mr. Kelvin emphasized, should be done away with while using English as a language of communication.
“It is indeed possible for a beginner English Student to have an excellent pronunciation and for an advanced student of English to have developed bad pronunciation, and it depends certainly on the learner to inculcate good linguistic habits in him and practice it while learning a second language”, Mr. Sebastian the HOD of English, opinioned together with the trainer.
Mrs. Kalpana Singh, the Head Mistress of the school has been entrusted with the task of the sustained phonetic improvement among the students.
The school’s President Mr. Raj Kishore Dewangan, on having been apprised of the workshop, expressed his satisfaction and opinioned that such efforts on the part of the school is sure way to achieve academic height.
