DPS- JC’s 3rd Annual Day and Prize distribution
Ceremony ‘Elysium 2013’ was a cultural extravaganza in the true sense –
showcasing the talents of students in a wide variety of dramatic and musical
disciplines.
Beginning with an artistically choreographed prayer dance,
and culminating in a stunning UV Dance based on harmony, the theme for the
event, the show encompassed every style and genre of dance and music popular over
the past decades. A Bharatnatyam based dance, a Shiva Tandav, a Raas Leela, semi
Classical Choral song, and a ghazal formed one end of the spectrum, while western
styles like Salsa, MJ Style, Hip Hop, and contemporary formed the other.
There was a lot of fun with witty anchoring routines by the
students, a dramatization of a brilliant political satire, Sadachar ka Taveez,
and the cute little fairy tale, Puss in Boots, some rip roaring comic
interludes, and some universal favourites like lungi dance, performed by
students of class 1, a current Bollywood style dance and a colourful retro
number as well, were all different dimensions of the event. Students were
trained by members of the teaching staff, as well as a team of professional
choreographers from Mumbai Mr. Mervin D’souza & Sabstine Swami.
The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. P Anbalagan, who
exhorted parents to work with schools in ensuring the proper development of
students, with due consideration to their orientations and aptitude. President Mr. Raj Kishore Dewangan spoke of
the many dimensions to a child’s holistic growth and development which are
catered to at DPS JC. In the Annual Report, Principal Dr. Chetna Sharma, spoke
of DPS JC’s ascent to becoming recognized as one of the best schools of the
region. Special Guest Mr. K. Mohanty, Executive Director, Kanger Valley Academy
interacted with parents on the role of the school in a child’s upbringing.
While the Best House trophy was presented to Vayu House by
the Chief Guest, the students who have brought credit to the school were
awarded their certificates and trophies by Guest of Honour Smt. Meena Devi
Dewangan, President Mr. Raj Kishore Dewangan, Vice president Mr. Purushottam
