The third Annual Sports Day of DPS Janjgir Champa
The third Annual Sports Day of
DPS Janjgir Champa held on 29th November 2013 was a day full of
expectancy and excitement. Each and every student of the school was eager to be
involved in the proceedings in some way or the other-whether as contestants, or
as part of the impressive house march past, the cultural programme or as spectators,
enthusiastically egging on their Housemates to greater success.
Ultimately, it was Agni house
which triumphed over the others to be acknowledged as the best house of
2013-14. The honour of Best Athlete 2013-14 went to Nitin Narmada of Prithvi House for Group A, Umang patel
of Vayu House for Group B, and
Chatan kanwar for Group C.
In his address to the students,
the Chief Guest Shri Arif Sheikh,
Superintendent of Police Janjgir Champa, offering congratulations to all those
involved in making a success of the event said that determination and
sportsman’s spirit are the most important aspects of life. Those who can
complete a race even when they know they cannot win are the best sportsmen. Mr.
Sheikh said that every child is born with the potential for achievement – all
that it takes is the right kind of training and focus on developing innate
talents instead of judging all of them by the same parameters –in the words of
the honorable Chief Guest, “you can’t judge the capacity of a fish by its ability
to climb a tree.”
Hon’ble President, Shri Raj
Kishore Dewangan, recalled the objective of serving society by developing ideal
citizens for the future which had led to the founding of DPS Janjgir -Champa
three years ago. He said that it is the school’s aspiration to contribute to
the building of a great nation by giving as much emphasis to all round
development through co-curricular activities and sports as to academics, which
has already led to students winning laurels in various sports and cultural competitions
at the State level. He made special reference to Nisha Singh, who has been
selected to represent Chhattisgarh at the National level Handball Championship.
Principal Dr. Chetna Sharma
encouraged the students by reminding them that winning and losing are secondary
to participating with pure intent. Hard work and commitment are the only keys
to success, she said, adding that there are no shortcuts in life. Like Eklavya,
we must remain determined and focused to reach our targets.
Earlier, in his welcome address,
the Head Master Mr. R K Tripathy spoke of the Chief Guest’s inspiring
background and expressed the hope that his presence would serve to motivate the
students further

Happy Childrens Day
Children’s Day 2013-14 at Delhi Public School, Janjgir-Champa :
Students of DPS-JC were in for a pleasant surprise on 14th
Nov 2013 (Wednesday). Children’s Day gave them an opportunity to watch
their teachers display their talents in a special assembly designed and
presented by the teachers themselves. The highlights of the morning were a quiz
on Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, the song, ‘Chacha Nehru’, written and composed
by the music instructor Mr. Raju Kaushik and sung by a group of teachers, and
finally, a humorous skit in Hindi, which proved to be a fitting finale to the
day’s events.
With hilarious performances by Mr. P. Padhi, Mrs Lata
Pandey, Mr. S. Raha, Mr. P Dixit and Mr. N. Pathak, the skit was a complete
entertainer with a very relevant moral – “Ill gotten wealth is soon lost in
frivolous pursuits.” Addressing the students on the occasion, Principal Dr.
Chetna Sharma encouraged them to make some significant resolution this
Children’s Day to improve on their approach to academics and discipline, as
well as on their social commitment.
The highpoint of the celebration, though, proved to be the
distribution of little goody bags, hand- made by the teachers themselves, to
the students. From the little pre-primary tiny tots, to the seniors, no student
was left untouched by the care and affection which had gone into the effort.
