Happy Childrens Day
Children’s Day 2013-14 at Delhi Public School, Janjgir-Champa :
Students of DPS-JC were in for a pleasant surprise on 14th
Nov 2013 (Wednesday). Children’s Day gave them an opportunity to watch
their teachers display their talents in a special assembly designed and
presented by the teachers themselves. The highlights of the morning were a quiz
on Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, the song, ‘Chacha Nehru’, written and composed
by the music instructor Mr. Raju Kaushik and sung by a group of teachers, and
finally, a humorous skit in Hindi, which proved to be a fitting finale to the
day’s events.
With hilarious performances by Mr. P. Padhi, Mrs Lata
Pandey, Mr. S. Raha, Mr. P Dixit and Mr. N. Pathak, the skit was a complete
entertainer with a very relevant moral – “Ill gotten wealth is soon lost in
frivolous pursuits.” Addressing the students on the occasion, Principal Dr.
Chetna Sharma encouraged them to make some significant resolution this
Children’s Day to improve on their approach to academics and discipline, as
well as on their social commitment.
The highpoint of the celebration, though, proved to be the
distribution of little goody bags, hand- made by the teachers themselves, to
the students. From the little pre-primary tiny tots, to the seniors, no student
was left untouched by the care and affection which had gone into the effort.

Deepawali Celebrations at DPS-JC
The festival of lights was celebrated at DPS-JC in a
distinctive style, as the school campus took on a holy hue, portraying scenes
from Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. Students took on the
roles of Lord Ram, his family, his devotees and the common people for Ayodhya,
and a range of colourful images showcased the celebrations that followed his
triumphant homecoming, after the epic war which culminated in the destruction
of the demon Ravan.
The highlight of the occasion was the representation of Lord
Ram’s coronation as the king of Ayodhya, set to the live chanting of vedic
verses. The royal court of the ancient kingdom was brought to life through this
charming and sublime performance, which moved everyone present with its sacred
appeal.

The Annual Inter House Quiz competition which was held on 25th
October at DPS-JC highlighted the students’ vast stores of information, as
well as their capacity for thinking on their feet.
With confidence and brilliance belying their age, the young
participants fielded questions from many diverse fields and subjects. The quiz
was held in three groups, and each group faced four rounds of questions. The
questionnaire round gave each team the opportunity to parry its own set of
questions, while the buzzer round and the rapid fire round had the participants
racing against the clock. The visual round challenged them with images of
personalities, places, monuments and symbols.
At the end of the day, it was Akash House which emerged the
over-all winner. The first position in each of the three groups went to Akash
House (Sub Junior), Agni House (Junior) and Akash House (senior). The principal
